The ingredients set out on a bench top.

  • Pineapple juice – a classic colada ingredient!
  • Coconut cream – or substitute for coconut milk.
  • White/light rum – you can use any brand of white or light rum you like, such as Bacardi or Malibu.
  • Ice cubes.
  • Fresh strawberries – for garnishing (optional).

Expert Tips

Follow my simple tips for a perfectly fruity and creamy strawberry colada!

  • It’s best to use frozen strawberries and frozen pineapple rather than fresh fruit. This is because frozen fruit helps to thicken the cocktail, giving it the texture of a thick and creamy milkshake or slushie!
  • Use a Thermomix, food processor or a blender to make frozen strawberry pina coladas.
  • You can use either coconut cream or coconut milk. Coconut cream has a thicker, creamier texture.
  • Any variety of white/light rum can be used to make coladas. Personally, I recommend using either Bacardi or Malibu.
  • Continue mixing until the cocktail is completely smooth, thick and combined.
  • Serve immediately with a garnish of fresh strawberries.
