We always have a batch of bliss balls (also known as protein balls) in the freezer.

Not only are they healthy, they’re also quick and easy to prepare and loved by the whole family (including fussy kids!)

These ‘Lamington’ Bliss Balls are firm family favourites for me – along with my peanut butter brownie protein balls, double chocolate protein balls and salted caramel bliss balls.

All the ingredients for chocolate, jam and coconut bliss balls.

  • dates – you can use either dried and pitted dates, or medjool dates in this recipe. If using medjool dates, you may need to add extra almonds as they have a soft, moist texture when compared to dried pitted dates.
  • cocoa powder – choose regular unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder if preferred.
  • strawberry fruit spread – I used the St. Dalfour brand of strawberry fruit spread. This spread is made from 100% fruit with no added artificial additives, cane sugars or preservatives.
  • almonds – you can use either raw almonds or roasted almonds for this recipe. I generally use raw almonds.
  • desiccated coconut – this is a fine, dry coconut that is perfect for coating the bliss balls with.

Expert Tips & FAQ

My ‘Lamington’ bliss balls are so easy to make!

Here’s my top recipe tips:

Should I use dried pitted dates or medjool dates?

You can use either variety of dates in this recipe. I generally use dried pitted dates as they are inexpensive and readily available. If you choose to use medjool dates (which are far more moist), you may find that you need to add extra almonds to make the mixture thick enough to roll into balls.

Are these ‘Lamington’ Bliss Balls healthy?

Yes! These bliss balls are made using natural and healthy ingredients. They’re naturally sweetened by using dates as well as St. Dalfour Strawberry Fruit Spread which is made from 100% fruit with no artificial additives, cane sugars or preservatives.

What equipment do I need?

You’ll need a food processor, blender or Thermomix to make these bliss balls.

Storing

Store ‘Lamington’ bliss balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Freezing

Alternatively, they can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
